LUCAA+ Probiotic Pet Wound Care Reduces MRSA by 99%
The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) recently carried out an independent laboratory study to measure the effectiveness of LUCAA+ Probiotic Pet Wound Care Spray.
The laboratory stimulated real life conditions using synthetic skin at a temperature of 37oC to test the competition between LUCAA+ probiotic bacteria and the multi-drug resistant bacteria Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA). LUCAA+ probiotics are naturally occurring, plant-based, helpful bacteria. They use the natural and organic processes of bio-competition and bio-augmentation (i.e. they simply crowd out the harmful bacteria and consume them when they die), to inhibit pathogenic bacterial growth.
The results showed that a single spray of LUCAA+ Probiotic Pet Wound Care Spray achieved a 99% reduction of MRSA within 22 hours.
LIST states that: “The commercial product LUCAA+ produces a very significant drop in Staphylococcus aureus (>3 log unit CFU.ml-1). The observation of the weak effect of the ingredients alone of LUCAA+ also indicates that the inhibitory effect of LUCAA+ is not due to the additional ingredients but to probiotic agents.”
LUCAA+ Probiotic Pet Wound Care Spray is already regularly being used by around 250 vets in France & Benelux as an alternative to antibiotics for wound healing and infection prevention in animals. The spray has just become available in the UK. It can be a useful strategy to meet the UK Government target to reduce antibiotic use in animals by 25% reduction target over the next 5 years.
